Hi there,
My name is Amanda Seal and I am The Singing Psychic. I live just outside London in Bedfordshire and I offer personalised services online or in person.
Unlike many mediums, I didn’t grow up seeing spirits around me. As a child, I had an imaginary friend called Judy, who would often chat to me while I sat on the toilet — of all places! I didn’t see her as such; I heard her voice in my mind. I now understand this as clairaudience.
One experience that stayed with me throughout childhood was regularly having what I now recognise as out-of-body experiences. From around the age of five, whenever I went to bed, I needed the little window in my bedroom left open. Once asleep, I felt as though I could slip outside to play in my neighbours’ gardens, jumping over magnificent trees illuminated in incredible colours. At other times, I would imagine myself inside a giant red ball, bouncing from the top of my parents’ stairs to the bottom of the hall like a roller coaster. It was immense fun, and I can still remember the sensations vividly.
Growing up was not always easy. My parents were not very emotionally available, and as I moved from childhood into my teenage years and early adulthood, my connection with spirit became suppressed.
I come from a wonderfully theatrical family. My roots reach back to Hollywood in the 1870s, where my great-grandfather enjoyed a successful acting career. My mother owned a dance school throughout my childhood, while my father — alongside his full-time work — was a bass player, actor and regular performer in local amateur dramatic productions. My sister and I spent much of our childhood at dance lessons or in the theatre.
After leaving school, I trained in London as a singer, dancer and performer. I went on to work abroad in bands and hotels, on cruise ships, and in pubs and clubs. For many years, I thought that was my path.
Then, around seven years ago, a day trip to the beautiful spiritual town of Glastonbury changed everything. A man singing in the wells beneath the Tor suggested I visit a place called Bridie’s Yard, telling me that something was happening later that evening that I might appreciate. Curious as ever, I went along and found myself among yogis and free spirits chanting, singing and meditating. We drank homemade blessed hemp milk and were offered free hugs. It was all rather overwhelming — but I knew I had found something important.
That one experience led me to begin a regular meditation practice at home. As I started clearing past trauma from my early childhood, it felt as though space was being made for my true potential to emerge. Enter spirit, stage right!
Healing old wounds is no small task, but I now realise that my guides had been with me all along. My awakening shifted me from a self-serving mindset towards one of service to others, and that was when I began to discover my psychic and mediumship abilities.
I was guided to sit in development circles, though I was still unsure how my journey would unfold. Then I was invited to a psychic art workshop. Suddenly, I felt guided to draw. I had no idea I could do it, but a voice — now recognised as one of my close spirit team — encouraged me to follow their lead.
I was amazed when I found myself sketching a French man who seemed to be sitting with me, asking me to put his face on paper. Later, I discovered that the man I had drawn was none other than Marcel Duchamp: the French-American painter, sculptor, chess player and writer associated with Cubism, Dada and conceptual art.
Since then, I have attended the wonderful Arthur Findlay College to study and develop my psychic and mediumship abilities. I’m still rubbish at chess, though!
This path has changed my life. It has helped me find myself, and if I can shine a light on the path for even one person, then I know why I am here.
To love and be loved — that is what it is all about.
With love and light,
Amanda x
